Voice loud explosion was heard from the roof of hotel Taj Mahal, the city of Mumbai, India, Wednesday night. Not long after the fire and thick smoke envelop the red roof dome near the characteristics of old hotels and historic that. Those who are in the vicinity of the hotel surprised when the hotel is witnessing a symbol of pride for India in the lap of fire. But the fire can be overcome.

I think there is a hotel that became targets of attacks and hostage where guests a number of foreign countries. A group of young men armed automatic AK-47 came from the India Gate with a fast boat (boat speed). They suddenly into the lobby of the hotel and shoot without direction. Out of atmosphere changed.

Location Taj is located near the India Gate monument or the Gateway of India in the Arabian Sea border. In this location is also the last British troops should lift the foot after Indian independence in 1947. According to the story, Taj was built on the elements of resentment and vengeance. A Parsi industrialist named Jamsetji Tata Nusserwanji never want to invite foreign friends to dinner at the Apollo Hotel (now closed). His entry is prohibited because it is only citizens of India and not Europe and not white. When the Apollo known have strict rules, only citizens receive the white and Europe. Immediately, he promised it would build the hotel which is far better and open to all Indian citizens without exception.

He then rent the land 8,093 square meters of land reclamation in the coastal Mumbai. He carefully to all the stake, from design to the purchase of furniture and everything fitments trinket hotel in London, Dusseldorf, Berlin and Paris. Taj luxury room is shown with ballroom conditioned (AC) and the room complete with sauna and massage (turkey bath) or as jacuzzi. In that era, there is no one hotel in India that have facilities such luxury. Tata clearly serious. Cost of the overall development of the luxury hotel (105 years ago) reached 250,000 Pounds Sterling, or approximately Rp 4.8 billion!

Cosmopolitan
Done built in 1903, Taj soon become the best hotels in India. Even a symbol of cosmopolitan. Luxury shops in the old building, while cafes and restaurants in the roof of the hotel (new building). Since the 1970s, cafes and restaurants in the tower wing is popular as a place to drink tea while enjoying the scenery of the city and busy port. Taj hotel is the first in India to introduce ballroom dancing in music and music-West, such as jazz.

Hotel decor style architecture with a mix of Spain (8th century until to-16), Italy (to the centuries-14 up to 16), and Oriental since the era before independence until now busy serving guests from foreign investors, the emperor, to the head of state. According to the daily The Times of India, some critical guests who stay have, among other British Queen Elizabeth II, former Egyptian President Gamal Abdul Nasser, Mick Jagger, John Lennon, and Jackie Onassis. Even Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Mohammed Ali Jinnah met at the hotel to discuss the independence struggle of India.

According to The Telegraph, the hotel was the switch function into the hospital emergency with 600 beds when World War I ferment. Now Taj, which provides 565 rooms, including 46 VIP rooms, fix the rates ranged from 365 U.S. dollars to 425 U.S. dollars for double room per night.

The photo in your post is that of the "Taj Mahal", built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in Agra, but the post is about the "Taj Mahal Hotel" near the Gateway of India, Mumbai (Bombay). Just thought of letting you know that these two are 2 different places, and the name of the hotel is inspired from the monument in Agra.
